We spent less than 24 hours in Lyon, it was basically a
stepping stone to Avignon. We set out fairly early in the morning determined to
find some breakfast, and some traboules. These are passages between the streets
which were originally intended for silk weavers to move their goods in crappy
weather. Apparently, resistance fighters found them useful in WWII. So we went
into every patisserie we came across and tried to find these traboules. They
generally look like someone’s front door, and some you have to use the intercom
button to open, so I felt a little like I was traipsing through someone’s
backyard.
Starting off, with my first pastry
Finding our first traboule. We would have walked straight past it, except for the plaque next to it, which then gave us some idea of what to look for (basically, a door you can open0

And popping out in another street
