Tough Guy Challenge 2011

I was nervous about this. When I entered about 2 months ago I was keen to get in before they closed the entries (only 2000 people are allowed to take part) but then on friday I was asking myself what was so appealing about slogging through mud and cold water. It was great though, muddy and grotty and cold and lots of fun.

Taping on my shoes before the race. There are a few shoes left in the mud each year so I was keen to prevent this. Next time I will tape a little differently because all the grit stuck to the tape around my ankle and acted like sandpaper.

About a third of the people dressed up. One of the brides managed to keep her bouquet for the whole race.

There were a few people who used the occasion to have a mud fight.

There was some running in between the mud and the water.

A bride in motion, jumping off the wobbly bridge

There were also walls to climb over, a two wire bridge, a barbed wire course to crawl under, lots of hurdles, and some gorse to stop you going off the track.

The end. Buggered and muddy and planning 2012.
