Daniel was quite excited about this, so I thought I would report it, spurred on by having at least
two readers out there (hi Ruth and Scott).
So last week Daniel went to Australia to use up his New Speaker’s prize, going to Melbourne and walking 3 km to get to Subway (the eating place that is), the smell does indeed beckon… amongst visiting CSIRO and Monash Uni and the mighty synchrotron. Afterwards going to a little place called Tumut, about 2 hours drive from Canberra and visiting a pulp mill as part of the deal of using the prize money. What he was so excited about was this:

which was his rental car getting to Tumut, a hybrid Toyota prius that did about 450 km on 20 L of petrol. This may even be our new car, in 5-10 years when they become more affordable (or petrol gets to the forecast $10 a litre).
Peace out.

Honda Fit, or Jazz as it is known in the UK is supposed to be coming out in a hybrid version 2009. It will do better mileage than the Prius I reckon. That's what I'm saving up for.
